Mission

The great need of our age, as far as the spiritual life is concerned, is to put contemplation on the roads. - Jacques and Raïssa Maritain

The roads of this world are often muddy. But that’s where God asks us, some of us very clearly and others more obscurely, to become contemplatives and deep lovers of God.

This blog exists to explore this aspect of what it means to be a Christian and a Catholic. It used to be feasible for this blog to not follow the news or keep up to date. Thanks to the leadership and agitations of Pope Francis, however, that has ceased to be true. There is an awful lot of news about Christian contemplation these days, and this blog endeavours to cover that in full, as well as focus on other foundations.

The Little Sisters of Jesus in Chicago gave me your web address. May I share it with others in Foucauld family here in the USA?? Here is my Face Book page,http://www.facebook.com/groups/62652414530/

Thank you for all you do. There is a small lay fraternity in Montreal, trying to grow in Canada.

I’m very glad to hear about the lay fraternity in Canada (where I’m originally from)! I hope and pray they do grow.

Please do share my blog or any post with anyone you think may have an interest or find some small use in it. I think there are far too few resources of this kind online. Personally, I’m always very happy to find anything, too! =)

I have a lot of resources that I would be happy to share with you. I have been involved with the life and spirituality of Br charles for 40 years. My great joy was to attend the beautification. 40 years ago I was in El Golea, and Beni Abbes.
I wish you could see my Face Book page, I have tried to make it a real resource center. http://www.facebook.com/groups/62652414530/
I do wish I could meet you, so I could hear the details of your story. In Him, Lennie

So glad to have stumbled on your blog, though there is no such thing as a coincidence! I’m a lay Christian writer (www.ruthkirk.org), and I’m looking hard for a way to dedicate my life more fully to God on the Island where I live. There are no nuns here at all, now, and third orders require frequent trips to the UK and lots of travelling (I have cancer and fatigue).

Everything I write comes out of prayer and silence. I long to wear a habit publicly and serve God in my community. I would deeply love to be in touch with just a few others doing something even remotely similar. Every avenue I’ve tried so far has proved not to fit. Please can you help me, even just a little?

With many thanks for your blog, from Ruth XXX
