Be My Sanctity

elisabeth2I want to be holy with you and for you, but I am aware of my impotence. O Lord, be my sanctity.

I am 75 soon and fifty years ordained priest May 13, 2022. I have just started reading St. Elizabeth of the Trinity in earnest. She speaks directly to contemplation in the world and does it simply and well. After years of “busy” parish ministry i spent the last five years as a pastoral presence to a small community of hermits. I have come to the conclusion that the great gift of the Church to the world is contemplation centred in Our Lord. I believe that the Church will be purified, grow in Christ, and attract others to Jesus when every parish becomes a “retreat centre”, a locus for prayer and contemplation. “Good works” will flow from holiness and grace. It does not work the other way around.
    Blessings on your “work”.
