What is a “Remarkably Contemplative Man”?

Raïssa MaritainSaint Thomas was a “remarkably contemplative man.” What does that mean? That means that he lived in God, and God in him, a life of tender affection. His soul, his intelligence, his heart, his will, were opened wide towards heaven, and he received light like the sun, grace like dew, and all his life was like a garden full of many different flowers and fruits.
He prayed without ceasing.
Raïssa Maritain (1883–1960)

I came upon your blog a couple of weeks ago. I think it might be a good idea to cite the name of the book along with the author where you got the quote. The quotes are very interesting and I’m always on the look out for a new spiritual book.

Unfortunately I haven’t usually kept a record of where I got the quotes from (because the jotting down was originally intended for myself), and posts have been prepared months, sometimes years in advance, just because I have that much stuff recorded on my computer that I can post… It wouldn’t be possible for me to change the format for many, many months yet, even if I tried.

But I do know that this one is from Raïssa’s book on Thomas Aquinas (Angel of the Schools) for children.

She’s definitely always been there… but maybe she should show up more often. ;)
