This bloody sacrifice [of the Cross], which comes among us in the gentleness of the Mass, the Mass that contains all the fire of the love of God: we need to throw ourselves into it like the moth in the light.

Brother, I am a little confused but perhaps it is because I am reading things out of context. I am pretty sure the teaching of the Church is that the Mass is an “unbloody” sacrifice. Unless the Cardianl is talking about the original Crucifixion and the Mass’s intimate connection to that sacrifice offered once for all time. Again I am no theologian so I could way off on this. I’ll try to do a bit of homework. Let me know if you have an insights, please, thanks! l.b. Michael

Yes, he is saying that the “bloody” sacrifice of the Cross “comes among us” (is made re-present) in the unbloody, “gentle” Mass. =)

Thanks. I’ve added something (“[of the Cross]”) to the original post to make this clearer.
