A sea of orange from the waist up
– but it is really more like a lake –
and a cotton wood of dappled hues below:
one raindrop at a time comes
together for the walk for healing.
In a few minutes the orange lake
will become a river, the road its bed,
and it will slither past the reeds.
But the trouble with any together-road
is that some drops of greatest weight
form the deepest lakes – the most profound –
that are just lakes. Paralyzed. Not walking.
