Beauty dilates us, it liberates us. Its clarity is a magic that ravishes our heart. It is like a piece of lost paradise. It is an oasis in the midst of the world’s dereliction. But even so, it makes us suffer. To know beautiful things makes us suffer as we come in contact with those things which are ugly, and this is a real suffering, but it is one from which we would not choose to be delivered.
