Unless I am mistaken, the Lord taught that no Christian worthy of the name could be content with detachment of heart, while continuing to live, without scruple, in affluence. He must aim at a life in which poverty has a greater part – while still conforming with the requirements of his position, his family, and his profession, and in obedience, also, to the promptings of grace.
