In the brutality of the Dachau concentration camp, the fellow prisoners of Blessed Titus Brandsma described Father Brandsma’s presence as “radiating warmth.” Just being around him brought something to them.
This is one of those cases of the transfiguration of the body. Just the presence, the manner of sitting or listening, the tone of voice, the lines on the face, or something else, indescribable but yet experienced with the senses, is a manifestation of the Spirit, for the whole human person has become the Spirit’s work.
