Faith and Adoration in the Eternal Present

ElisabethUnless a soul has destroyed and become emancipated from self, it must of necessity, at certain times, be commonplace and natural… As a protection against living according to [fallen] nature, the soul must have a lively faith, and must keep its eyes fixed upon the Master; then it can say, “I will walk in with integrity of heart within my house” (Ps 101:3). It will adore God for Himself and it will dwell like Him, as He does, by His example, in the eternal present in which He lives.
Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity (18801906)
