Place your confidence in God more than in your personal fervour. The consolations that God gives to us are like flowers along the path to sweeten difficulties and let us advance more easily towards him… If God has now taken away sensible fervour, don’t be surprised; accept, with good heart, this aridity that come from his hand (as long as this aridity does not come from us, from any negligence in accomplishing pious exercises each day).
