Little Jesus Tells Little Văn About Life in Nazareth

At Holy Name Church in Manchester, England

Marcel Văn writes:

[Jesus says, ] As a human being, I had all the weaknesses of childhood… By that you must understand, little Marcel, that the weakness of infancy had been mine also, with this sole difference, that I had no failings as you have. I was neither greedy nor unruly like you. I cried but when Mary comforted me, I understood immediately… What is more, if a child never smiled, it would make the family lose its joy. If, therefore, in the midst of the Holy Family, I had always kept a serious face, without ever laughing, it is certain that Mary would not have dared to call me her child. Then the mystery of the Incarnation would have been unveiled and the Blessed Virgin would no longer have even dared to indulge me freely as she wished to do…

At that time I acted in everything like other children. When relatives, on a visit, gave me cakes, I accepted them gladly and I ate them quite simply… Oh! Little Marcel, it was for love for you; and tell it too to the souls of children so that they know it: I have, like them, passed through a state of infancy…

Later, little Marcel, when the children of the village came to play, I played gladly with them and I profited from the opportunity to make them understand the kingdom of heaven. These children were also very happy with me. However, I never went to play far from Mary;  I always stayed near her. At that age, Mary did not spoil me and I behaved like the other children. Mary always called me child, but in her heart, she lived continuously united to me… After the death of Saint Joseph, I spoke to her often of the sufferings I would have to endure later… Then, Mary cried a lot and I cried with her…
