It is necessary to recognize, before the ultimate end of human life, fixed for eternity by the beatific vision, a sort of anticipation of that glory in time itself, a possession of God even here below which takes place by love. Love outstrips understanding… And is this not already true of time as of eternity? The payment which the intellect will receive only in the future life (because it cannot transform the soul in God until she sees Him, after the separation of soul and body), love can receive in this present life…
