น้องพระเยซู (Little Brother Jesus)

At the Museu Antoniano in Lisbon, Portugal

Saint Anthony, why do you have
My little Jesus on a book?
He sits and sits, does he grow tired?
It doesn’t seem so from his look.

O Mary, Queen, you show to us
My little Jesus, arms outstretched;
Or hanging on, or on your lap:
So full of love, a love unmatched.

But me, I think Jesus the boy,
My little Jesus, wants to play.
Maybe I’ll sit him on my neck,
We’ll run, we’ll laugh, that’s it, all day.

Yes! What thinks Jesus, little one,
Divine, but fully human, too –
To play and tumble like a boy
With me; this, would you like to do?
