The most beautiful of the cognitive fruits of divine love is the Gift of Wisdom. When the Spirit of wisdom comes into a soul, he pours into it the instinct of God. The soul knows God, not any longer as a stranger or from a distance, but as carrying and touching God, and becomes, in the soul, the very weight that causes its own love. In this mysterious contact, God lets the soul experience something of the view that he has of his creation… The Gift of Wisdom is thus eminently pacifying; the beatitude that it carries into the soul is that of the peacemakers, those who leave, wherever they pass, a little bit of the peace of God.
Charles Cardinal Journet (1891–1975)
