The Need for an Interior Life in Society

Father Garrigou-LagrangeIt is evident that we can exert no real or profound influence on our fellow-men unless we live a truly interior life ourselves.

There is an essential truth to what this brilliant and holy Dominican wrote. which bepeakes of how God uses our free will to work though us as instruments of His Love. It is a part of the Mystery of His Love, how intimaely He makes us a part of His Love and work of salvation. Of late I have wondered, if it is not even more amazing that He can use us when we sin or when we are not in tune with His Will in our lives in a conscious and cooperative way. Perhaps this would suggest that somehow in the deepest part of who we are He is always at work within us, with our consent because we have been made in His image and likeness? I am not sure…what I do feel sure about is the fact that the Source of All Being and Love can touch peoples’ loves in profound ways, even when those individulas seem to have not chosen to ork in tune with God’s Will and I think of this as a part of the Mystery and Marvel of God’s Mercy and Love.. not sure that this is at all theologically correct on my part but it is something I have seena dn experienced too many times not to pay attention to it and at least to “wonder” about it.. As always I am grateful for your posts…
