Meditation of the Gospel and the Scriptures, reading the biographies and the writings of men and women of God, theological study, following the vocation and the possibilities of each, are the indispensable bases of prayer. Without these conditions, it is impossible, according the the normal course of supernatural prudence and outside of exceptional graces, to come to a contemplative prayer life lived in the midst of the world… We can’t walk without eating.
