Blessed Charles de Foucauld “discovered” Nazareth as a way of life: living as Jesus, Mary, and Joseph did, among others, without great proclamations and without noise, but doing good, living day by day, having neighbours, and having friends. Sometimes this is all that we feel or think is in our power. But it was the lot of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph for most of their lives.
Of this experience, Pope Benedict has said,
Let us give thanks for the testimony of Charles de Foucauld. Through his contemplative and hidden life at Nazareth, having discovered the truth about the humanity of Jesus, he invites us to contemplate the mystery of the Incarnation… He discovered that Jesus, having come to us to join in our humanity, invites us to universal fraternity…
In this video, this same “spirituality of Nazareth” is looked at today.
