Just Be with Me for a While

At St John Church in Bangkok, Thailand

Some days, it’s almost as if, from somewhere behind all the signs of everyday life, Jesus says, “I’m here in the Eucharist. Just sit and be with me. Stop your head racing with petitions. Stop your ideas and your acts of praise. Be still. Just be with me for a while; listen; watch. I don’t want anything else. I will fill you now. I will make you useful later.”

Some days are like this. We don’t choose which ones.
